All about trips

Published 07:27 a.m., June 27, 2009

Let's talk about trips. There are still seats available for the Jasper's Jubilee Theatre trip to Park Rapids on Thursday, Aug. 13. Join this trip for a unique blend of live music and comedy promising fun for all ages. There will be time for lunch at Schwarzwald Restaurant in Park Rapids prior to the show and a supper stop at the Cactus in Perham on the way home. Cost which includes transportation, supper and show ticket, is $48 for members and $53 for non-members. Deadline for payment and registration in the Senior office is July 17.

Unfortunately, the triip to Alexandria on July 19 to see “Mom’s the Word” has been canceled for lack of interest.

But if you wish to plan ahead, we have a very special trip planned for Sept. 1 to the Science Museum Omnitheater in St. Paul to view the “Titanic Artifact Exhibition” as well as the film, “Titanic.” Watch this column next week for all of the details.

The Red Hats have their own trip planned to the Bagg Farm near Morton, N.D., on Saturday, July 11. They will meet in the Senior Center parking lot at 11 a.m. to car pool. Cost is $3.50 and lunch is available at the farm. Sign up in the senior office by July 6.

There will be another Concert in Roosevelt Park from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, featuring jazz with Frank Weibl and the Viking Cafe as food vendor.

We began planning for the July issue of the Golden Page this week. Deadline for submitting material is July 20 which should give you time to write some of your memories of summer experiences. Drop off your articles in the senior office.

We celebrate the 4th of July next Saturday. In observance of Independence Day, the Senior Center will be closed on Friday, July 3, however, a noon meal will be served. In addition to the fireworks, parades, picnics and barbeques, remember to give thanks for our freedom and say a prayer for the men and women in the service of our country. God bless them all!
